Welcome Aboard

welcome aboard

Island Passage is a purpose built displacement catamaran operating within New Zealand waters from November through April and then she relocates north to Vanuatu from May through September. At 42 metres (140 feet) overall and weighing in at almost 500 tonne, she’s equipped to travel to inaccessible areas while delivering the highest level of passenger comfort. Our passion for fishing adventure has inspired a series of extraordinary voyages to some of the most remote and fascinating places in New Zealand and Vanuatu.

Sailing aboard “Island Passage” means you can create a fishing charter that suits your needs. Be it all out fishing, corporate team building charters or a couples trip where fishing all day for one is balanced with daily non-fish activities for the other. Guests fish from the tender boats or venture ashore for rock based casting. Bush walks, winery visits and expeditions from the ship by helicopter or boat are also daily activities, or you may choose to relax with a good book in the library, tune into a favourite program on Satellite TV or laze in a steamer deckchair. Evenings are a highlight of small ships where after an active day in the fresh air the mood changes onboard to sunset cocktails, white linen dining and personal service. In the galley, our chef works with the freshest local ingredients and delicacies to create memorable meals that reflect the region and the day’s activities. There is accommodation onboard for just 20 passengers. The ten spacious en-suite cabins with rich timber panelling and timber furniture are all fitted with video, audio, TV and are individually air-conditioned. Most cabins have doors opening to the outer deck. During each journey, our eight-person crew is on hand to share their knowledge of the area and local fishing conditions.
